TruFiber™ contains two unique sources of soluble, prebiotic fiber: Sunfiber® and Inulin. One serving or one level scoop (11 cc) of TruFiber provides slightly more than 10% of the recommended 25 gram Daily Value for fiber. TruFiber is a tasteless, white powder that mixes fast and clear with no grit or thickening.
Sunfiber or PHGG is derived from seeds of the guar plant and is partially hydrolyzed to improve solubility and reduce viscosity. It has been clinically proven to improve regularity at levels corresponding to two servings of TruFiber (see scientific references). Sunfiber is a registered trademark of Taiyo International, Inc.
Inulin is isolated from roots of the chicory plant. It has a lower molecular weight (shorter carbohydrate chains) than PHGG and provides a synergistic prebiotic effect.
FIBERASE BIFIDOGENIC ENZYMES
TruFiber contains the Fiberase complex of fiber digesting enzymes. These enzymes are not produced in the human body but occur naturally throughout the plant kingdom; they are listed above in Table #1 along with their corresponding enzymatic activity per serving. Fiberase enzymes are called bifidogenic because they improve the prebiotic activity of fiber present in fruits, vegetables and whole grains resulting in enhanced stimulation of Bifidobacteria. Fiberase enzymes are also lactogenic meaning they stimulate the growth of various Lactobacillus probiotics (Patent Pending).
PROBIOTIC STIMULATION
The two prebiotic fiber sources in TruFiber stimulate both Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus probiotics by directly providing a microbial food source within the intestinal tract. The Fiberase enzyme complex improves the prebiotic activity of whole foods in the diet by partially digesting their long chain fiber residues and provides time-released microbial nutrition. The dual action of prebiotic fiber plus Fiberase™ enzymes is synergistic. For added effectiveness TruFiber can be taken with a high potency probiotic such as Theralac (www.theralac.com).
Note: Certain prebiotics such as the fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are not as selective for probiotics as the Sunfiber® and Inulin used in TruFiber. Excess bloating and gas can result when non-probiotic bacteria are stimulated by products containing FOS type prebiotics.
FUNCTIONAL ACTIONS
TruFiber has been shown to improve the following conditions (see scientific references). * Constipation and poor elimination * Diarrhea and loose stools * Poor absorption of calcium and magnesium * Low Bifidobacteria levels in colon * Low Lactobacillus CFU in small intestine * High cholesterol and triglycerides
The most common response to taking TruFiber is improved regularity with more uniform stool consistency and intestinal comfort. Improvements in nutrient absorption result in enhanced energy and a greater feeling of wellness.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
There are three recommended dosage programs for TruFiber. For Improved Regularity take two (2) servings daily in 4-8 ounces of water, fruit juice or milk: One in the morning and one in the evening. Stir well to dissolve (one level scoop = one 2.6 gram serving). For Probiotic Stimulation take one (1) serving daily along with a high potency probiotic that supplies at least 10 billion CFU per dose (see Theralac medical strength probiotic on our site). For enhanced Nutrient Absorption and Gastrointestinal Health take a minimum of 3-4 servings per week with the largest meal of the day.
Note: The high dose Improved Regularity program offers all the benefits of the other programs; the Probiotic Stimulation program also provides improvement in regularity due to enhanced probiotic activity. The number of TruFiber servings per day can be varied to accommodate an individual’s specific requirements.
FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
TruFiber is safe for young children. A dosage of ½ to 1 serving daily is usually adequate depending on the child’s diet. Check with your doctor before giving any dietary supplement to a child.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
HERXHEIMER REACTION
TruFiber can dramatically stimulate probiotic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, ether those naturally present or those obtained from a supplement. All of the ingredients in TruFiber are food grade and generally recognized as safe (G.R.A.S.) by the United States FDA. However, when probiotic bacteria are stimulated they may cause rapid die off of pathogenic microorganisms such as Candida yeast. This can result in moderate discomfort (bloating. gas, headache, diarrhea or loose stools) for several days to a week as the harmful microorganisms die and release their toxic byproducts faster than the body can eliminate them – this is called the Herxheimer Reaction. Drink lots of water and eat light if you experience this reaction, it is a positive sign that your body is detoxifying. If symptoms persist discontinue use and see your physician.
ALLERGIC AND OTHER REACTIONS
TruFiber does not contain: wheat, gluten, soy, corn, rye, milk, casein, peanuts, yeast or animal products. It contains no added carriers, only the two natural fiber sources and the four, vegetable source, digestive enzymes. The enzymes (40 mg per serving contain about 20 mg of protein) are protein based and may cause an allergic response in sensitive individuals. Check with your physician if you are sensitive to proteins before taking TruFiber. Drug interactions: Some prescription medications may have their absorption compromised by fiber supplements, check with your physician before taking TruFiber if you are on prescription medications. Do not take TruFiber if you are pregnant or nursing.
